What Is SDA and How Does It Support NDIS Participants?

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is a key component of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), designed to help Australians with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs live more independently.

SDA refers to housing that has been specially designed or modified to cater to the individual needs of participants. This includes features like wheelchair access, assistive technology, and proximity to essential services. Importantly, SDA funding is provided directly to eligible NDIS participants, and does not cover personal support — just the cost of the building and maintenance.

By offering a safe, comfortable, and accessible living environment, SDA gives people with disabilities the chance to live more autonomously, participate in their communities, and experience a better quality of life.

At SDA Rentals, we’re committed to helping match NDIS participants with high-quality, purpose-built homes that align with their personal goals and needs.
